About Dokumenta
We are a family business run by Neil and Gabriela Baird. Our design and photography studio is located close to Shaftesbury - a historic town in Dorset, made famous in recent times for Ridley Scott's iconic Hovis ad.
Having lived for years in North London (and possibly still Londoners at heart) we decided to move West with family and business at the turn of the millenium, seeking a quieter life in rural Britain. (Don't ask!) We do love it here though and would not easily move back to the city.
We have been in the design business for more years than we want to admit, but it seems like only yesterday that we began. Between us we have an impressive range of skills and talents (even if we say so ourselves), with backgrounds in graphic design, photography, advertising, furniture design, retailing, business consulting and training.
We like the name Dokumenta, because it means different things to us. As well as creating all kinds of documents for our clients, and from time to time shooting documentary photography, we also have a strong link to the famous Documenta art festival in Kassel, Germany where Gabriela comes from. (Yes, we know, different spelling).Design and photography
